Portfolio decrease

Dear all,

I would like to inform you that we sold the shares of our UBS Vitainvest 50 Swiss fund. We made 6.7% or 6’776 CHF of capital gain. If you remember, we bought just after that the massive drop of the Swiss market due to SNB decision to stop supporting the Swiss Franc.

We took this decision in order to have a cash position in case of future market drop, so our cash position is just above 100k.

This portfolio decrease is following our mix investment strategy (Mix investment strategy) and we have a +/- 6% gain selling limit which for this position we are just above.

What about you, any selling to have cash position for market drop?

Cheers, RA50

    • This cash position is part of our tax advantage account, the investment possibilities are limited to different fund with different percentage of action vs. bonds.

I will wait for a while and probably invest in the fund having only 12% of action, which will protect our investment.

      Thanks for your comment.

      Cheers

  1. Dear retiredat50

Also living in Switzerland, I am wonder how you just can move money into and off this UBS Vitainvest 50 Swiss fund, if it is a tax advantage account (3rd pillar?).

What kind of solution do you use?

    • Hi Ozonic,

Nice to meet another CH investor. Basically nothing special as the money stays within our tax advantage account. This money is block in the account, but we can buy, sell at our wishes. And no fees apply to it, even better,
Let me know if you need more info.

  2. Hi retiredat50

In this case, if I understood you right, you are using a UBS Freizügigkeitsdepot, where you moved in your 2. pillar?

    • Ozonic,

Not really, it is my 3rd pillar account and depot, where you have a choices of fund to invest in. If you buy or sell the money stays in the account. I cannot withdraw the money until retirement or if we leave Switzerland.
If you are at the UBS, contact them for details. You will see it’s very easy and profitable!!!

Let me know if you need more details.
      Cheers RA50
