Portfolio increase

Dear all,

I am pleased to announce that we purchased 500 shares of Lafarge-Holcim (LHN.VX) at a cost of 65.00 CHF on the 29 of July, including the taxes and broker fees, our selling price is 66.18 CHF.

As you probably know the 2 biggest manufacturer of building materials (e.g: cement) companies fusionend on July 10th 2015 to create what  it is believed to be the largest worldwide cement company.

On the 29th of July, both companies reported their 1st semester results and presented lower than expected results in the first half of the year. Therefore the share drop by up to 6.70% or 74.7 CHF at the lowest intraday.

So you see that we bought almost at the lowest level!

At the moment, we are not expecting to keep it to get the dividend distribution but more to make a capital gain. We will update the portfolio this weekend.

Any purchases from your side?

Cheers, RA50

RA50 Interviewed by Mustachian Post

Hi all,

I would like to thank my Swiss FI seeker buddy (Mustachian Post), to have asked how did we achieve our net worth in such a short time. MP interviewed the FI seekers that achieved more than 1mio USD in net worth and which are referred in Net Worth Tracker from Rockstar Finance. I must say that we are very happy to be in 5th position in his ranking considering that there is big names and a long list of people decided to retire early or get a better life.

Hopefully our 4# advises (RetiredAt50 in the “Richest Blogger Single Advice” serie) can help others to achieve similar results, you will see, they are basic rules but it works for us. Clearly some luck and hard work can pay.

I am sure that we will learn a lot with these interviews, I am looking for the next one after MP well deserved vacations.

Cheers and thank again MP and Rockstar Finance

Apple watch!!!

Hi All,

For once in a while I am not giving advice on how to save money, or which stock we bought but I am sharing my experience with my new personal purchase, an Apple Watch, stainless steel and Milano wrist.

I bought it, because my old Iphone 4 (business phone) had recurrent issue to detect and keep the wifi’s so I received Monday the Iphone 6 and decided to order the watch, which I receive on Tuesday (24 hrs after order)….

I must say that I am VERY happy with this purchase, I quickly get through the different functions and get some app that use it and really cool. Once you paired it with your phone, I had access to my work email, calendar, ouhaa I was impressed.

What I love is that you can send text message just by the voice, you receive the same notification that on your phone, even if no app available for the watch (WhatsApp).

I am a big fan of Apple, so it is a really a nice gadget.

What about you, do you have one?

Job, functional move and salary increase

Dear all,

I am very happy to announce that I have been offered a new job and consequently getting a promotion!

This promotion will come with a salary and an annual bonus increases. I have not yet received all the details about the previous…  Will update you as soon as the contract arrives.

What I know is that I will work in another location which is around 80km away from home compared to the 7km actually; therefore we will have more spending on gas and the car will depreciate quicker due to the additional mileage per year. Hopefully the salary increase will compensate this additional cost.

But it is a great opportunity that I cannot pass over.

Cheers,

Portfolio increase

Dear all,

As mentioning in our post (Markets crisis or should I say tension), where we were thinking to buy shares of fund that are proposed part of tax advantage account.

I am pleased to announce that we purchased 757 part of the UBS Vita Invest 50 Swiss at a cost of 133.5 CHF.

The fund focus mainly in the Swiss market with a maximum amount of 46% (long-term) of high quality Stock (main position: Novartis, Nestle, Roche, UBS and Richmont), the rest is composed of bonds and real estate.

The dividend distribution of this fund is very small so our idea is more to make a capital gain, like the one we did when the Swiss franc drop by 15% when the National Bank stopped supporting the Swiss franc (Tax Advantage Portfolio Increase). for memory, we made 6.75 or 6’776 CHF of capital gain.

We will update the portfolio this weekend.

Any purchases from your side?

Potential very good news

Dear all,

We just finished completing our 3014 tax declaration and we believe that a very surprise is coming. Clearly we need that the tax office agrees on the different items but we probably over paid in 2014. Here in Switzerland, we pay account every month (based on previous year) and then the reconciliation is performed once you have completed the tax declaration.

In 2014, we paid 71’100 CHF of accounts and based on our calculation, we should have paid only 60’000 CHF. So we should have a return of 11’100 CHF. We will not get directly get the cash back but the tax office will reduce our monthly account payment. That will boost our saving rate for 2015!

The big question, is what to do with this additional cash. We have different options, clearly the one I would prefer is to re-invest the amount into high dividend yield companies. Another option, would be to increase our emergency found to cover 2 months expenses, at the moment, we have only 1 month covered expenses.

Next year, we are planning to change our car, so it could be as well the part of the entrance fee for the leasing.

Any advice from your side?

Cheers,

Markets crisis or should I say tension

Dear all,

I went through the performance of our portfolio considering the markets situation, the Greek endless crisis, the Chinese market falling like hail in summer and the reaction of the global markets. Well, the picture is really not nice. In almost one month, the actual value of the portfolio vs. our calculated selling price of each shares (including all broker fees) went down from -8.3% to -14.1% or in percentage point -71%.

Looking at the positive side, it gives us an opportunity to buy shares at discounted prices or investing on our tax advantage account (3rd pillar), our cash position available is around 156’000 CHF. the split is one-third for the broker account and two-third for the tax advantage account. In order to keep a certain cash value as an emergency fund, we will probably not touch the broker account, but investing in our 3rd pillar.

In next couple of day, I will closely look at the market and evaluate how much, and on in which of the fund we will put money to work.

What is your situation, hopefully better than our.

Cheers,
